The USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr DD850 left her berth at Fall River, MA on 24 April, 2000 to star in the motion picture, "THIRTEEN DAYS". This movie stars Kevin Costner in a epic tale regarding one of the most heated and tense times of the Cold War: The Cuban Missile Crisis.
USS Joseph P. Kennedy DD850 played herself as well as the USS John Pierce DD753, as both were involved in the first stop of the freighter, MARUCLA, that was potentially carrying missiles to Cuba in October 1962.
