USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. DD850 Destroyer Museum
at Battleship Cove, Fall River, Massachusetts.

Parts Acquisition Trip, Philadelphia Naval Yard, March-May 2001
Behind the effort of project leader, Ed Zajkowski, DD850 has acquired an estimated 3 tons of equipment from the stricken guided missile cruisers, USS Biddle and USS Harry E. Yarnell. Everything from light fixtures and armored filing cabinets to Officers wardrobes and casualty power cable was acquired. Along with Ed on this trip were valued volunteers Don Charpentier and Clarence "Smitty" Smith. It is estimated that this "strip trip" is the largest for DD850 since the USS Basilone DD824 trip around 1982.

We would also like to publicly thank Mr. Harry Lewis for his help, interest, and dedication in allowing DD850 to acquire these items.

Just starting to load up the fantail. Even the drawers in the wardrobes are full of "goodies". Ed, Don, and Smitty stand in front of their loot. A job well done and very much appreciated.
