History of USS Hoel DD-768
DD-768, a Gearing-class destroyer, was laid down on 21 April
1944 by the Bethlehem Steel Co., San Francisco, Calif., and was
assigned the name Hoel. Since she was incomplete at the end of the war, further
construction was canceled on 13 September 1946, and the
incomplete ship was broken up on the slip.
