Torpedo and ASROC Acquisition.
August 2004.

In early 2004, Peter Papadakos obtained a total complement of MK 44 torpedo shapes, including the only Mk 44 warshot torpedo at a museum in the world, to USS J.P. Kennedy Jr. DD850. It has been some 30 years since DD850 had torpedo units to fill her magazine, tubes, and training torpedo stowage station. We thank Peter for acquiring these units from NV and Washington state as well as the fine people of the Hawthorne Ammunition Depot, NV and Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Keyport, WA. We also would like to thank the Tin Can Sailors Association for their generous grant to ship these materials to KENNEDY. The last photos show Peter's most recent acquisition for us, two ASROC missile shapes and a warshot Mk 46 torpedo.
