Subj: Fall Field Day – October 14-16, 2005
Despite one
of the rainiest weekends in recent memory, a crew of approximately 30-35
Volunteers, once again, showed their resolve and dedication to the preservation
and restoration of KENNEDY.
Included
in the crew were an Eagle Scout and his support team working on his project
(Chart Room Restoration) and several first timers as well as the return of some
old timers.
In all a
very productive week/weekend as you will see.
The
summarization of the work done is concise as possible from the information
available. As always, there is work done does not get captured and to those who
performed the work my apologies for not being aware of it.
On
Saturday night, the Volunteers host six Scout groups, for discussions and
tours. The spaces included: IC Gyro, ASROC Control/DASH, Radio, Ship Fitters
Shop, Bridge and Engineering. Special
THANKS to those Volunteers who spent a long day aboard and gave even more time
to share their knowledge about their specific area to the visitors. Who better to conduct these tours than the
sailors that have been there – done that. The response continues to remain
positive and we expect this program to expand as we moved forward.
